Abstract

1501861 Constructing offshore platforms REDPATH DORMAN LONG (NORTH SEA) Ltd 4 Feb 1975 [4 Feb 1974] 5034/74 Heading E1H A method of constructing an offshore structure comprises disposing a fully submersible foundation raft 10 beneath a water surface at a first location having relatively calm water conditions, floating a tower structure 11 to a position directly over the foundation raft, making a connection between the tower structure 11 and the foundation raft 10 and moving the assembly for founding elsewhere. At the first location, the foundation raft 10 may be suspended beneath floating vessels or submerged to rest on the water bed. The foundation raft 10 may be partially constructed in a dry dock and then completed afloat. When installed finally, the raft may be used as a tank.
