Abstract
149,973. Bardeloni, C. Jan. 10, 1918, [Convention date]. Wireless signalling.-In a receiving system employing a thermionic valve and a crystal or other rectifier, interference by signals of neighbouring wave-length, or bv atmospherics, is prevented bv the use of one or more auxiliary tuned circuits connected to additional electrodes of the valve. Signal currents are taken from the aerial to the valve 24, Fig. 1, through a circuit 7, 8 tuned to the. signal-wave frequency, and the aerial is also coupled to a circuit 10, 11 which is tuned to the interfering frequency (or to a frequency slightly above or below that of the signal waves, when atmospherics are to be eliminated), this circuit being connected to an auxiliary electrode 23. A rectifier 19 is connected through an adjusting-battery 18 and potentiometer 17 between the grid 12 and filament 14, in parallel with the receiving-circuit. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the rectifier 19 and its battery &c. are connected in series in the receiving-circuit. The electrode 23 is placed on the outside of the valve 24, and the circuit 10, 11 is connected between this electrode and the filament circuit. There may be two circuits, such as 10, 11, tuned to interfering frequencies above and below that of the signal waves and connected to separate auxiliary electrodes.
