Abstract

1499503 Aerials MARCONI CO Ltd [6 Aug 1974] 34517/74 Heading H4A An aerial feed array comprises two pairs of spaced, parallel, slot-fed dipoles 8, 10; 9, 11, mounted along the sides of a square on one side of a circular ground plane for producing radiation to feed a main radiating element such as a parabolic dish. The radiating dipole element 4,5 is preferably 0À38 # long, the effective length being made to be 0À5 # by loading strips 7. Horizontal or vertical plane polarized radiation may be produced by feeding only one pair of dipoles whilst circular polarization is produced when both pairs are fed in phase quadrature. Linear polarization (Œ45 degrees to horizontal) is produced by feeding all of the dipoles in phase or anti-phase, or they may all be fed in series.
