Abstract
1498430 Cement additive BASF AG 8 May 1975 [20 May 1974] 19370/75 Heading ClH [Also in Division C3] A resin additive for fluidizing cement or gypsum compositions is obtained by condensing 1 mol. of melamine with 1À5-5À5 mols. of formaldehyde and 0À15-4 mols. of an alkali metal sulphoxylateformaldehyde complex to obtain a product of viscosity, in 20% aqueous solution at 20‹ C. of 2-30 mPa sec. The resins are preferably used in 5-30% aqueous solution as additives for cement, concrete, mortar or gypsum, in amounts of 0À01-30 p.b.w. of resin per 100 of the mineral binder, as fluidizers. In Examples 1-5 resins are obtained from melamine, 40% formalin, and sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate in molar ratios 1:(3 or 5): (0À93-2). In Examples 6 and 7 0À3, 0À5 or 1% of resin so obtained is added to a cement mortar.
