Abstract

1498390 Medical syringes LEZARD SA 16 March 1976 [5 Nov 1975] 10515/76 Heading A5R A syringe consists of a cylindrical container prefilled before use with a medicament which is retained by a membrane 6 at one end and a piston 12 at the other, the piston having an undercut or threaded seat 13 which in use of the syringe is engaged by a head 14 on a piston rod 15 which passes through an apertured flange 16 secured to a rim 4 at the end of the container by a lip 17 and used as a finger grip. The membrane is retained against the end of a necked portion 2 of the container by a folded over hub 5 which includes a frusto-conical seat 7 for the boss 8 of a double pointed needle 9, the point 10 piercing the membrane. The flange may alternatively be provided with a central aperture of a diameter greater than the container but less than rim 4.
