Abstract

1497868 Vehicle deck extension CRANE FRUEHAUF. Ltd 18 Sept 1975 [31 Dec 1974] 56150/75 Heading B7B In a vehicle trailer a floor support 1 and a strut 2 pivoted respectively about horizontal axes towards the top and bottom of the trailer side are movable between an extended position in which strut 2 supports the member 1 as a horizontal extension of the trailer platform, and a stowed position in which the strut 2 is pivoted upwardly against the trailer side and the support 1 hangs over the strut 2. To retract the assembly from the position shown in Fig. 1 the support 1 is hinged upwardly allowing strut 2 to hinge upwardly about pin 11 until its projecting arms 14, 15 lie outside lugs 6, 7 supporting hinge pin 3 of the support 1. The support 1 is then swung downwardly and then lifted, pin 3 sliding in slots 4, 5 of lugs 6, 7, until it can pass over and drop behind stops 16, 17. It is noted that a number of such supports 1 and struts 2 are provided at spaced invervals along each side member 18 of the trailer for supporting removable deck boards 19.
