Abstract

Aeroplanes; planes, construction of; steering and balancing; cars and cabins.-The wings 2 are formed with symmetrical convex upper and lower surfaces, merging with the surfaces 6, 7 of the central portion or fuselage, which provides an enclosed cockpit and carries the motors &c. The wings taper in outline and in thickness towards the tips, and their sweep is continued by the movable stabilizers 5 and elevators 14. A stream-lined hood 11 is carried beneath the body up to the propeller-boss 13.
