Abstract

1497031 Silencers B LEES and G WHITTINGHAM 10 June 1975 [19 June 1974] 27116/74 Heading F1B A silencer box 2 is enclosed at least at one end by a shield 4 which also encloses the associated inlet or outlet pipe to form a dead space. The shield may enclose either one or both ends of the silencer box, or the whole box as shown in Fig. 2. Shield 4 is sheet metal or plastics. Insulating spacers 5 are compressed asbestos fibre or ceramic fibre. The dead space is partly or wholly filled with mineral wool, glass fibre, asbestos or aluminium silicate fibre. The shield is made in halves and secured by straps or clips.
