Abstract

1495946 Motor caravans with raisable roofs DEVON CONVERSIONS Ltd 23 Oct 1975 [24 Oct 1974] 46034/74 Heading B7B A foldable wall structure for use in an elevating roof of a motor caravan comprises a lower frame 1 adapted to be fixed to the caravan roof 2 to surround an opening thereon; an upper frame 3 adapted to support a roof panel 4; spring-loaded struts 5 to extend from the caravan roof at 8 to the upper frame at 6 for effecting positioning of the roof panel 4; foldable stays 10 interconnecting the frames 1 and 3 to limit upward movement of frame 3 relative to frame 1; a wall 11 of flexible material extending between the frames 1 and 2; and on two opposed sides of the wall, elastic elements 16, 17 extending between the frames 1 and 3, the elements 16 being attached to a region of the associated wall side at 20. The elastic elements serve to guide the flexible wall 11 into its storage space between a depending skirt 4a of the panel 4 and an upstanding flange 9 defining the roof opening. The elements 17 are anchored to the frames 1 and 3 at plastics clips, and the elements 16 pass through openended sleeves provided in an open-ended pocket in the wall side at 20. A support strip (13), Fig. 5 (not shown), is fixed to the upper frame 3 which it overhangs ao that the wall 11 is horizontally spaced from the outer face of the frame 3.
