Abstract

The rectangular vehicle roof top can be raised. It has a base frame (14) fixed to the roof and a rigid top, also rectangular. A linkage joins the moving roof to the base. There is a flexible waterproof skirt around the opening, fixed to the moving roof. The linkage has on either end (20) a pair of gas filled springs (24) which tend to push the roof to its open position. The springs are pivoted and when the roof is fully raised, they are almost vertical. The moving roof is of glass reinforced plastics.
