Abstract
1494177 Fusible resistors RESISTA FABRIK ELEKTRISCHER WIDERSTANDE GmbH 26 May 1976 [6 June 1975] 21920/76 Heading HIS A resistor comprising a resistive coating on a body 2 has a glaze coating 7 over part of the resistive coating, the glaze coating melting at a predetermined temperature to form an electrically conductive liquid which causes electrolytic decomposition of the resistive coating. The glaze coating is preferably of a ceramic lead borosilicate, and the resistive coating may be of carbon or a metal oxide. The resistive coating may have a nick (10, Fig. 3, not shown) to cause localised heating in the region of the glaze coating. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown,) the glaze coating is in the form of a spot (9) on a helical resistive path.
