Abstract
149,351. Alber, E. July 26, 1919, [Convention date]. Connexions.-The terminals of a cell are constructed so that a number of cells can be connected together without the employment of separate conductors. In the form 'shown in Fig. 1, one electrode is formed by the casing 1, the other electrode 2 having a terminal strip 3 extending down the exterior of the cell, from which it is separated by an insulating-strip 4 which may extend round the greater part of the cell. The top portion 3<1> of the terminal 3 may be of sufficient width to allow a second cell to be supported above the cell 1. Fig. 12 shows a form in which the cell is formed of or entirely covered with insulating-material 4, both electrodes having prolonged terminal strips 3, 5. These may be bent to embrace the cell as shown at 3a, 5<a> to allow cells to be joined in series or parallel. Fig. 15 shows a form in which the terminals 3, 5 are secured to a flange at the top of the cell. Good connexion between a number of cells may be obtained by a spring within a case containing the battery. Cells made of metal may be constructed by pressing or stamping. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1530/15, 5731/15, 100,586, and 111,058.
