Abstract

This arrangement greatly increases the active surfaces. The centre (1) of the coil is electrically conductive and connected to either cathode (4) or anode (2). The inert layers (3, 5) retaining the electrolyte are wider than the electrode bands and the whole is enclosed in a conductive box which contacts the last turn of the coil, making it the second terminal of the battery. Several coils can be connected together and housed in a common insulated case.
