Abstract

1492706 Safe walls G VAN DIJK 28 Jan 1976 [30 Jan 1975] 03389/76 Heading E1A A safe wall comprises at least two concrete layers 2, 3 separated by a hollow space 7 bounded on at least the outer side by a layer 8 of a material which remains not flowing and heat insulating at very high temperatures and which layer incorporates a sensor forming part of an alarm system. The layer 8 may be laminates of asbestos cement or wood either side of a sensor circuit. Steel spacers 12 may be present in the cavity which may in response to the alarm, be filled under pressure with water from a cellar. The safe door 4 may be clad with steel sheets 5, 6 and the concrete may contain polymer aggregate. A further inner layer of concrete may be provided with a spacing or directly adjacent a further heat insulating layer inside the wall 3.
