Abstract
1,251,322. Moulding building panels; laminated panels. LANKRO CHEMICALS Ltd. 25 Sept., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 43569/67. Headings B5A and B5N. [Also in Division E1] A building panel comprises two parallel face sheets, e.g. of aluminium, steel, plywood or asbestos or metal faced-plywood, spaced apart by circumferential enclosing side walls of which at least one is made of a polyurethane elastomer, the panel being filled with an insulating material. The panel may be formed by placing a wooden outer mould frame to surround a metal or metal-faced plywood plate on which is placed an inner wooden mould frame, the facing surfaces of the mould frames being coated with a release agent. After curing a liquid polyurethane elastomer poured into the cavity being the mould frames, the frames are removed, the panel is then filled with a rigid foamed plastic introduced in uncured liquid form and finally the panel is closed by securing a similar plate to the elastomer side walls. Alternatively the panel may be closed before introduction of the filling which is then passed in liquid form through a hole in one of the panel faces or walls. The panel may have rabbetted side walls 22, 23 formed with the use of outer mould 30, 31 and inner mould 32, 33 or may have elastomer walls which are thicker against one face sheet (Fig. 3b. not shown) or elastomer walls which are formed with lengthwise grooves (Fig. 4, not shown). One face-plate at least may be externally ribbed (Fig. 3a, not shown).
