1492192 Tufting machine SINGER CO 22 July 1975 30549/75 Heading DIG A tufting machine yarn jerker system comprising a fixed jerker 32 and a reciprocating jerker 34 has one of the jerkers (32 as shown) formed by first (46) and second (48) jerker members the first of which is adjustably mounted (at 62) relatively to the second jerker member while both are adjustably mounted (at 54) relative to the machine. Yarns Y threaded through the first jerker are thus controlled separately from those threaded through the second. The yarns are positively and variably fed to the machine by rollers 26 not further described; the pull back applied to formed loops by the jerker system may thus accommodate yarns of different elasticity fed through the respective jerker members, or, if the yarns are of the same type, one yarn is pulled back more than the other to create a pattern effect with loops of different height.
