Abstract

1491428 Cutting foodstuffs by reciprocating blades or wires N EZAKI 1 March 1976 08084/76 Heading A4C Cakes or other foodstuffs are cut into segments by reciprocating blades or wires 3 equiangularly spaced about a common centre above a table I provided with slots 4 into which the blades pass as the table is moved up towards the blades to cut the cake 2. The table normally rests in a drawer 11 slidable out of casting 8 to place the foodstuff centrally. A rack 14 is movable upwardly by a motor 16 via pinion 15 to engage the table by its cone 17 entering a conical recess 7 and spikes 21 on a plate 20 pass through holes in the table to engage the foodstuff. At its upper limit the plate engages a stop 25 to prevent the spikes extending above the upper surface of the casing. The knives are reciprocated by a prime mover 29 which has an offset output pin 31 providing reciprocation to first arms 30. These reciprocate discs 32 to which a first pair of the blades are connected and further discs 34, 36 are reciprocated by second and third sets of arms 33, 35 to which other pairs of the blades are connected. The opposite ends of the blades are acted on by compression springs 41 to provide tension therein.
