Abstract

149,038. Cox, R. H. April 30, 1919. Strainer separators; feeding; mixing-apparatus.-In a centrifugal machine for filtering or mixing oils and other liquids, the filtering drum a comprises inner and outer gauze or perforated metal elements both consisting of detachable lengths g of material provided at each end with knuckles g<1> engaged by fastening bolts, and an intermediate medium e consisting of felt, flannel &c. wrapped round the inner gauze or perforated element. When assembled, the filtering elements are kept in position by flanges h on the end disks a<2> of the drum and are supported by rods connecting the disks. The drum is supported by spindles, one spindle carrying the driving connexions and the other b<2> being hollow and connected to a pump or hopper for feeding the oil &c. to the drum. An oil-tight casing c provided with an outlet i for purified liquid surrounds the drum a.
