Abstract

1490004 Lubricating bearings TURBO LUFTTECHNIK GmbH 31 Oct 1975 45516/75 Heading F2A [Also in Division Fl] The anti-friction root bearings 20 of the variable-pitch rotor blades 17 of an axial-flow fan are lubricated by means of an annular oil layer 53 which is maintained against an annular wall 19 by centrifugal force during rotation of the rotor, the oil being allowed to penetrate into the bearings. The oil can be replenished while the fan is stationary via a temporary connection 66 between a feed conduit 54 and an oil pump 55 located outside the fan casing 10. Replenishment may instead be effected even while the fan is running, the oil then being pumped via a conduit 61 to a stationary chamber 30 of an hydraulic blade pitch adjuster 25 and thence, via the hollow interior of a tubular member 28 which rotates with the rotor, to a chamber 32, from which it passes via duets 56, 57, 58 to the annular space 14 between the rotor shaft 12 and the axially movable spindle 13 of the pitch adjustment mechanism, and thence via passages 60 or via play in guide bushings 59 to the chamber 16 containing the oil layer 53. Further passages 60 may be provided to feed oil to the rotor of the previous stage of the fan.
