Abstract

733,693. Centrifugal mixing and grinding machines. LANG - LONDON - Ltd., and CLARRE, J. W. June 25, 1953 [June 30, 1952], No. 16457/52. Classes 23 and 59. [Also in Groups XXIV and XXXIV] In a centrifugal mixing or grinding machine comprising a vaned rotor 11 co-operating with a stator 10 having ridges, the rotor is mounted on a sleeve 12 rotatable with but axially slidable on the drive-shaft 13 so that the clearance between the rotor vanes and stator ridges may be adjusted whilst the machine is working. The sleeve rotates within a double thrust bearing, the middle race member 19 of which is carried by an adjustable bush 14 provided with screw-threads engaging those of a stationary member 15. To adjust the axial position of the sleeve and rotor the bush is rotated, pivoted levers 17 on the bush and co-operating notches 18 on the member 15 being provided for locking in the desired position. The shaft is supported by a selfaligning bearing 37.
