Abstract

1488771 Reciprocating pumps POLYPUMP Ltd 6 April 1976 13912/76 Heading F1A A finger-operated container-mounted, spray pump comprises an integral elastomeric member 14, Fig. 4, having a finger-engageable bulb portion defining a pumping chamber and a wall portion 57 adapted to snugly engage a complementary portion 27, Fig. 6, of a base member 26 formed with a cap 46 for mounting the pump on a container, the wall portion 57 being formed with inlet and outlet chamber-defining recesses each divided into upstream and downstream compartments 72, 73 by an inclined, integral partition functioning as a check-valve when engaging base wall portion 27, grooves 70, 78, (85) Fig. 3 (not shown) connecting the respective compartments to the pumping chamber, an inlet 30 and an outlet 68. The wall portion 57 also has a vent chamber, Fig. 2 (not shown), comprising compartments separated by an integral partition check-valve for venting the container to atmosphere. The outlet 68 comprises a poppet valve member biased closed against base wall portion 27 and opened by the delivery pressure to prevent drip. A shroud (16), Fig. 8 (not shown), encloses member 14, leaving access to the bulb portion, and secures member 14 to base member 26, the shroud having a discharge nozzle communicating with outlet 68.
