Gas hand-irons of the kind having horizontal baffles, adapted to give the combustion-products a forward and backward course, have the baffle h sloping upwards at the rear and supported by a pillar i rising from the base of the iron. The T- headed burner b, provided with a number of nipples b<2>, is secured to the rear of the iron by means of a serrated portion b<4> which engages a similar surface o on the cover and is held by a screw n. To permit slight adjustment of the burner the screw-hole in the cover is elongated. More than one baffle may be employed, with the object of enforcing a zigzag path upon the combustion products.
