148,468. Pickee, D. J. June 2, 1919. [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Valves.-In a two-stroke-cycle engine, a piston valve d working in a water-jacketed casing at the side of the cylinder controls the admission of scavenging-air from the crank chamber and of liquid fuel from a fuel spray pump l through an inclined port q in the cylinder wall overrun by the piston. The fuel-pump plunger is connected to the valve by a rod k. The scavenging-air passes through the interior of the lower part of the valve to the valve port r cooling the valve, and oil carried by the scavenging-air from the crank chamber passes through perforations v in the wall of the valve to lubricate the valve casing.
