Abstract
1483914 Automatic circuit breakers WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 4 Dec 1974 [4 Dec 1973] 52390/74 Heading H1N In a circuit breaker of the type having a latch 53 movable into and out of latching engagement with a releasable member 33 which effects closing and opening of co-operating contacts 21, 23 in the circuit breaker and wherein a bimetallic element 39 co-operates with the latch 53 so as to deflect on overload in a first direction to disengage the latch from the releasable member 33, a stationary fixed stop 67 is disposed adjacent the bimetallic element to prevent its deflecting, at low ambient temperatures, from its undefleoted position in a, second, direction opposite to the first direction. The circuit breaker described also comprises a ground fault interrupting arrangement incorporating a differential transformer which detects current imbalances to disengage the circuit breaker latch.
