Abstract

1483828 Combine harvesters CLAAS MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH Gebr 30 May 1975 [1 June 1974] 23693/75 Heading A1F The straw moving along a straw shaker 4 is spread and loosened by spreader prongs 10 connected to a crankshaft and acted on by links so as to trace out the curve 13. In Fig. 1, the spreader prongs 10 are fixed to bearings 9 carried by the crankshaft 7, and are acted on by links 11 mounted rotatably on a shaft 12. The spreader prongs 10 extend between the fingers 15 of a comb 14 which is resiliently deflectable by excess straw to operate a switch (not shown) controlling the supply and/or discharge of the straw. The links 11 may be mounted on the shaft 12 by means of wobble bearings and the shaft rotated, to cause lateral oscillation of the spreader prongs 10 rotatably carried on the bearings 9. Two such crankshafts 7 may be arranged in tandem. In Fig. 4, the spreader prongs 10 are pivoted to a pair of carriers 19 each mounted at each end on a crankshaft (only one shown). The prongs 10 are acted on by links 20 fixed at their rear ends, and caused to oscillate laterally by reciprocating rods 21.
