Abstract

1483683 Press moulding glass articles ASAHI GLASS CO Ltd 22 Oct 1975 [22 Oct 1974] 43466/75 Heading C1M In a method of press-moulding a hollow glass product the pressure exerted on the plunger during a dwelling step, during which the plunger presses the glass until it is sufficiently hardened to be removed, is lower than that during the initial pressing step for which the time is adjusted so as not to produce under- or overfilling of the mould. The transition between the two pressures may be substantially instantaneous or gradual. The apparatus disclosed comprises means for automatically maintaining the required pressure for the required time.. The product may be the panel or funnel of a television tube.
