Abstract

1483050 Clamps for surgical retractors J K HURSON 24 July 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 15178/77 Divided out of 1483048 Heading E2B A clamp for holding a surgical retractor comprises a base 39, a first jaw 40 fixed to the base and projecting therefrom, a second jaw 41 pivotally mounted at one end on the base and a knee linkage 45 connected to the second jaw for opening and closing the jaws. The knee linkage has a member 44 pivotally connected to jaw 41, the member 44 being pivotally connected to a member 49, which itself is pivotally connected to the base 39. Lever 43 connected to member 44 is used for opening or closing the jaw 41 towards or away from jaw 40. The clamp is fitted to a frame member 15 of a retractor frame by means of a mechanism 50 which operates similarly to the operation of jaws 40, 41 to hold the clamp on member 15.
