Abstract

1482468 Pressurized dispensing container valves R H LAAUWE 18 July 1974 31898/74 Heading F1R A dispensing valve for a pressurized dispensing container is operated with snap action and controls the outlet from a plurality of compartments by controlling ports opening to a mixing chamber created when the valve is operated, the mixing chamber communicating with an outlet. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 a valve-member 13 seats against a gasket 11 and is slidable in a valve chamber 9 to open the port 17 in the valve stem 15 to a plurality of ports 20, 21 connected to separate compartments, downward movement of the member 13 being opposed by means comprising a ring of spring fingers 23 integrally moulded with the housing 2 and engaging a shoulder 26 out of which engagement they snap when sufficient pressure is applied to the valve stem 15. The spring fingers acting on a tapered surface of the member 13 act as a return spring for the valve. The spring fingers may be replaced by a sufficiently resilient cup. In the embodiment of Fig. 7, the detent bead 28C, is formed on the housing and the valve-member is hollow and slotted to allow it to snap out of engagement with the bead. The upper surface of the valvemember may have an annular rib 27 for engagement with the gasket 11 as shown in Figs. 2, 3 or the gasket may have an annular rib Fig. 5, (not shown) and Fig. 7, and the valve-member may have a lip for sealing engagement with the wall of the chamber 9 and the gasket 11. The port 17 may be open to the space between the end of the member 13 and the gasket 11 when the valve is closed or be closed by the gasket in relevant constructions.
