Abstract
1482335 Battery electrodes ROCK WELL INTERNATIONAL CORP 29 Sept 1975 [7 Oct 1974] 39812/75 Heading H1B An electrode for a battery comprises an alloy of Li 28 to 80 wt. per cent and Si 20 to 72 wt. per cent supported by a current collecting matrix of, e.g. expanded metal or woven or non-woven wires of, e.g. Ni, Ti, Ta, Zr, Fe, steel, stainless steel. The positive electrode may be S or a halide, sulphide, selenide or oxide of, e.g. Cu, Fe, W, Cr, Mo, Ti, Ni, Co, Ta. The electrolyte may be a molten salt of, e.g. lithium halide with or without alkali or alkaline earth metal halides, e.g. chlorides of Li-K, Li-Na, Li-Mg, bromides of Li-K, fluorides of Li-Rb, and iodides of Li-K, a solid state electrolyte, e.g. a sulphate of Li with the chloride or bromide of Li or the iodide of Li with a halide of Ag, Ag-Hg, Pb, Cu or NH 4 or an organic electrolyte e.g. of Li-salt with, e.g. sulphoxides, nitriles, pyrrolidones or propylene carbonate.
