1481826 Phosphating metal surfaces PYRENE CHEMICAL SERVICES Ltd 20 Sept 1974 [21 Sept 1973] 41002/74 Heading C7U [Also in Division C3] Surfaces of e.g. Zn, Fe or Al are contacted with an aqueous composition comprising an acrylic or alkyd resin, phosphate ions, and hexavalent chromium in the weight ratios of 0À1 to 5:1:0À1 to 5. A nitrate is added preferably in a weight ratio NO 3 :PO 4 of at least 0À1:1. The composition may also include Zn, Mn, Co, Ni, Fe, colourizing materials, powdered metal or carbon, and emulsifying agents.
