Abstract

1408702 Phosphating solutions PYRENE CHEMICAL SERVICES Ltd 16 Jan 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 6551/73 Heading C7U Substrates of e.g. Zn or Al are treated with an acidic solution containing coating or non-coating metal ions, phosphate ions and a formaldehyde/ naphthalene sulphonic acid condensate dispersing agent. The bath may contain Fe<SP>2+</SP>, Zn, Mn, Mg or Na phosphates and may also contain Ca, Ni, NO 3 , NO 2 , F<SP>-</SP>and C10<SP>-</SP>. The solution e.g. of Zn 2 (PO 4 ) 3 , may be applied at 100-200‹F. From 0.0005-0.1 per cent dispersant may be present, thus preventing build-up of hard scale.
