1480833 Electric resistance heating SOC D'APPLICATIONS THERMO - ELECTRIQUES APPLIMO 26 June 1974 [29 June 1973 18 June 1974] 28363/74 Heading H5H An electrical resistance heating element, 3, 4, Fig. 4, lies in a central elongate channel 7 of a heat distributing element comprising an elongate pressed metal member formed with the central elongate channel and two flanges extending laterally from the channel, each flange comprising two portions lying in planes at right angles to one another, the respective first portions of each flange extending from opposed longitudinal edges of the channel and meeting the respective second portions in first lines parallel to the longitudinal edges, the second portions being slit along second lines perpendicular to the first lines to form fins 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>, the fins 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP> being twisted to extend on both sides of the planes containing the second portions. The edges of the channel 7 are joined by welds or clips. Two such pressed metal members may be joined to give a heat distributing element having two rows of fins, 24, 24<SP>1</SP> and 23, 23<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 9, the central channel of each pressed metal member in this case having a semicircular transverse section. For additional strength, the second portions of the flanges are not slit to the edges so that continuous edges are left (107, 108, Fig. 12, not shown). Several similar devices may be arranged in a casing to provide a connection heater (e.g. Fig. 5, not shown). Fin angles of 45 degrees are mentioned.
