Abstract
1480665 Goaf stowing CHEMISCHE FABRIK KALK GmbH 4 Aug 1975 [22 Aug 1974] 32537/75 Heading E1F Dust is controlled and the danger of fire is reduced during the packing of a gob area in a mine by moistening the gob area and/or the gobbing material using a hygroscopic salt as a moistening agent. The salt, e.g. calcium chloride and/or magnesium chloride, may be mixed in a finely divided, solid form with the gobbing material or may be sprayed as an aqueous solution containing 0.2-35% by weight of salt over the gobbing material and/or the gob area. A non-ionogenic wetting agent may be added in an amount of 2-5% by weight, based on the anhydrous salt, to the solid hygroscopic salt and/or an aqueous solution thereof.
