Abstract
1479124 Phenol LEUNA-WERKE WALTER ULBRICHT VEB 19 Dec 1975 [23 Dec 1974] 52208/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] Phenol, alpha methyl styrene and cumene are recovered from the distillation residues obtained in the distillation of the decomposition products of cumene hydroperoxide, by continuously cleaving the distillation residues in the presence of sulphuric acid at below 200‹ C. and below 1 atmosphere absolute over 20-90 minutes, the sulphuric acid concentration being maintained at 0À1-1% with respect to the residues, the vapours of the cleavage product being washed with continuously fed distillation residues and separated by distillation accompanied, if necessary, by the addition of water.
