Abstract

147,911. Dorneth, J. July 9, 1920. Catches, gravity; multiple fastenings; keyholes, obstructing. - A heavy sleeve is adapted, when released from a supporting-pawl e, to fall and turn, as the result of the movement in a camgroove c of a pin d on the door-frame, so as to bring arms b into engagement with catches g on the door. The fastening can be released by raising the sleeve, either directly from the inside of the door, or by a lever h which is key-operated from the outside. When raised, the sleeve is held up by the pawl e, which is not disturbed upon opening the door, a lever q on the door riding idly over an inclined lug m upon the pawl piece. Upon closing the door, the nose of the lever q takes under, and raises the lug m, releasing the pawl, and allowing the sleeve to fall. The provision of a second lug n renders the fastening applicable to doors of either hand. A camplate t is movable into the position shown in dotted lines, when it raises the lock to disturb the alinement of the keyhole with the lock mechanism, and also holds the trip-lever q out of action.
