Abstract

1476905 Compositions containing cephalosporins BAYER AG 17 Feb 1975 [18 Feb 1974 1 Aug 1974] 6586/75 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral, perenteral, rectal or topical administration, contain cephalosporins of the formula in which A is H, alkoxycarbonyl, optionally substituted alkyl, phenyl or naphthyl or a group of the formula R 1 X, wherein X is CO or SO 2 and R 1 is H, optionally substituted alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, furyl, thieyl, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, pyrrolidinyl or piperidyl; B is phenyl, tolyl, chlorophenyl, hydroxyphenyl or 1. 4-cyclohexadienyl; and E is H, OH or acetoxy; or salts thereof in admixture with pharmaceutically acceptable diluents or carriers, and, if desired, aminoglycoside antibiotics such as gentamycin, sisomycin, kanamycin, amimycin or tobramycin. The compounds may also be incorporated into animal feedstuffs. The compounds have antimicrobial activity and promote the growth and feedstuff utilisation of animals.
