Abstract
1392241 Cephalosporins R & L MOLECULAR RESEARCH Ltd 10 May 1972 [11 May 1971 (2)] 21737/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I wherein n is 0 or 1 and R represents groupings II, III or IV and non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. A process for the preparation of compounds of Formula I or non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof comprises reacting a compound of Formula V or a salt or an easily hydrolysed ester thereof with an acid of Formula VI wherein B is a blocking group, or with its functional equivalent as an acylating agent for a primary amino group, and subsequently removing the blocking group. A pharmaceutical composition comprises as active ingredient a compound of Formula I or a non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in conjunction with a physiologically acceptable exeipient. A method of treating animals; exeluding human beings, to cure them of diseases caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria comprises administering to the animal an effective amount of a compound of Formula I or a non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Starting materials are prepared according to the following schemes
