Abstract

147,654. Townsend, H. E. July 8, 1920. Stoppers closuring at mouth of vessel. - The mouth of a container 1, Fig. 6, has a flared portion 2 and a cylindrical portion 3. The closure 4 has a rib 6 against a shoulder 7 of which is seated a rubber or like gasket 8. The flange of the closure is flush with the container and may have a bevelled portion 13, so that, in opening, the closure may rock about a point 17. Notches 15 are provided so that air may enter if the. act of opening causes displacement between the closure and the gasket. In a modification, Fig. 2, a shoulder 10 in the mouth of the container receives the gasket, and a depending portion 13 of the closure prevents accidental displacement.
