Abstract

1475829 Floating oil barriers B F GOODRICH CO 8 Sept 1975 [10 Jan 1975] 36905/75 Heading E1H A pier mounted shipside oil barrier structure comprises a floating shipside oil seal member 16, 18 vertically extended above and below water level S and having at its free end adjacent ship side surface 14 a flexible rubberlike vertically extended sealing element 30 contacting the ships side surface. The member is mounted on the pier 12 by a pair of transversely spaced supports 62, 64 slidably supporting the member at spaced positions therealong for transverse movement relative to the ship side surface. The supports are mounted on elements 70, 71 and 73, 74 for vertical movement on the pier for vertical movement of the seal member with the water level as it changes with respect to the pier. Springs 82, 84 urge the sealing element into contact with the ship's side.
