Abstract

1475145 Burners HOTWORK INTERNATIONAL Ltd 7 May 1975 [14 May 1974] 21174/74 Heading F4T A gaseous or liquid fuel burner which provides a high velocity stream of hot gas for stress-relieving, drying-out cabinets, furnaces &c. comprises a casing 1 surrounding a combustion zone 6, the casing tapering towards a nozzle 4 for supplying the fuel and compressed air to a burner unit 10 at the rear of zone 6, and means for forcing air through the casing to mix with the fuel to produce a combustible mixture, and also to pass around zone 6 to nozzle 4 to increase the velocity of the expelled combustion products, zone 6 being contained mainly within an elongated combustion tube 5 circumferentially spaced from and within the casing and having its open outlet end tapering diminishingly and projecting to or into the nozzle, the rear end of the tube having a multiplicity of apertures spaced around it to communicate with the annular space between it and the casing. The main burner unit 10 includes a gas supply pipe 12 and a centre pipe 14 connected to gasoil and air pipes 16, 17, respectively, connected to a valve 18. Air is also supplied into annular space 8 which latter also contains an igniter 19. A booster burner 20 is connected to valve 18 by pipes 21, 22. The fuel gas only, or oil only, or both.
