Abstract

1475057 Caps for containers ANCHOR HOCKING CORP 7 March 1975 [8 March 1974] 9670/75 Heading B8T A metal closure cap of the type having a metal shell 2 and a top 3, depending skirt 4 formed with an inwardly rolled bead on the lower edge of the skirt and inwardly directed lugs 9, and having a cut board liner 12, is characterized in that a pluraltiy of spaced indents 14 are formed in the cap skirt to retain the liner 12 within the cap shell on removing the cap from a container. The indents may be hemispherically shaped and substantially rectangularly shaped with the longest sides circumferentially or axially aligned. The indents may be in spaced groups around the skirt and for the axially aligned rectangular indents, the indents in the group can be of differing lengths. The top 3 can be depressed to form a stacking panel. The cut board liner 12 may have a safety seal liner 13 adhered such that it remains attached to the rim of the container as the cap is removed.
