Abstract

1474286 Pistons AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 8 July 1975 [1 Aug 1974] 34046/74 Heading F2T A piston 16 for a disc-brake caliper 11 comprises a cup-shaped metal pressing 21 filled with a non-metallic compression resistant material 25, the metal pressing 21 may be of mild steel, plated or plastics coated, or stainless steel. The filling 25 may be a water-mixed cement mortar or an organic (e.g. phenolic) resin incorporating asbestos, calcium carbonate and metal filings. Two pistons 16 are shown, these pressing brake pads 18 against a disc 10 when fluid pressure is supplied from a master cylinder 31.
