Subaqueous audible signals. -In an arrangement in which sounds picked up by a diaphragm 7 are transmitted through an air-column to a microphone 9, the massive sound-tube 5 is insulated by supporting it by rubber rings 3, 4 in a protecting tube 2. The microphone 9 is mounted by springs 10 in a heavy metal casing 11, and is connected to the tube 5 by rubber tubing 8. Either of the tubes 2 or 5 may be adjustable, to bring the diaphragm 7 to a suitable distance from the ship's side 1.
