Subaqueous audible signals.-In diaphragm transmitters it is usual for the diaphragm to be mounted at its rim, as shown in Fig. 1, and to be vibrated in an overtone mode with a node circle at A<1>, A<2>. According to the present invention, the diaphragm is curved back and inward at the node circle A<1>, A<2> and attached to the base G on a circle of smaller diameter than the d'iaphragm itself, so that the apparatus may occupy less room in an in-board tank.
