Subaqueous audible signals; detecting subaqueous sounds. - In apparatus for producing and receiving sounds in which, as described in the parent Specification, t h e sound is transferred from one medium to another of different compressibility (e.g. air to water or vice versa) by the use of a small chamber 4 of flat form closed by a diaphragm 1 separating the media, and communicating through a small orifice 5 with a tube. 6 leading to the sound producer or receiver proper, a free space or gap 8 is left between the chamber and the tube. Mechanical continuity of structure is maintained, and entrance of dirt prevented, by a sleeve 7 embracing the chamber wall 2 and tube 6 and situated away from the gap 8.
