Abstract

1474103 Metal laminates DAICEL Ltd 24 May 1974 [30 May 1973] 23255/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Metals are laminated using a hot melt adhesive blend of 60 to 90 wt. per cent nylon 12/6/66 and 10 to 40% ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer containing 1 to 25 wt. per cent vinyl acetate (see Division C3). The adhesive may be applied as an extruded film or web and lamination effected at 5 to 10 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> and 120‹ to 180‹ C. for ¢ to 30 minutes. In specific examples an 80 Á film of adhesive is used and adhesion effected at 5 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> and 180‹ C. for 30 seconds, between sheets of the following metals, both untreated and subjected to a variety of surface treatments; mild steel, stainless steel, tin-free steel, aluminium, galvanized sheet iron and copper.
