Abstract

147,350. Scanes, A. E. L., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co. July 16, 1919. Condenser systems.-Condensate is withdrawn from a steam condenser 1, operating under vacuum, by means of an hydraulic ejector 3 discharging to a tank 4, which is maintained under a pressure lower than that in the condenser 1, and from which the condensate is removed by a hot well or boiler feed-pump 5. By this means, the quantity or pressure of the water used in the ejector 3 is reduced, and the condensate is deaerated in the tank 4. A vacuum is produced in the tank 4 by means of a steam-ejector 8 or other air-extractor, and the air outlet 9 from the condenser 1 may be connected to the tank 4 or to a separate air-extractor. In the latter case, the steam ejector 8 may discharge into the condenser. The water for operating the ejector 3 may be supplied by a pipe 6 from the discharge from the pump 5.
