Abstract

1473448 Container closures HENKEL FRANCE SA 7 July 1975 [29 Oct 1974] 28492/75 Heading B8T A cover of plastics material for grip-fitting to the wall 3 of a container such as salad bowl 5 has a peripheral groove 2 of inverted U-shaped cross-section in which the arms 5, 6 are inclined outwardly and the outer arm is provided with, between the arm and a flange 7, a bevelled or tapered edge 9, and a zone 1 of the cover, inwardly of the groove, is dished and has a stiffened portion 4 at its centre. The stiffened portion may be in the form of a raised hollow portion (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), or a thickened lens-like section 11. Pressure applied to the stiffened portion forces the outer arm 6, by means of the bevelled edge 9 sliding outwards, outwardly to fit over the outside surface of the wall 3 to form the grip-fit seal. The cover may be made of a flexible plastics material with the outer arm, bevelled edge and flange being made of more rigid material than the zone 1, inner arm 5 and central portion 8 of the groove. Preferably, the zone, inner arm and central portion 8 are transparent. The outer arm 6 can be of greater height than the inner arm 5.
