Abstract
1473110 Bowden mechanisms AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 20 Sept 1974 [17 Oct 1973] 48469/73 Heading F2K A Bowden type cable in which the conduit 13 is lined internally by a tubular liner 16 of thermoplastics material and wherein the core 10 is coated with a layer 12 of synthetic plastics material which has a greater percentage deformation under load than has the thermoplastics material of the tubular liner 16 when the two materials are tested under similar conditions. As shown, the liner 16 is of Nylon whilst the core coating layer 12 is of a high density polyethylene. The core 10, which is a wound steel wire cable, carries a steel end fitting 11 crimped thereon, the end fitting 11 being coated with P.T.F.E. by a spray process to reduce operating friction in its pin receiving bore 19. The conduit 13 comprises a double start helical coil 14 of steel wire coated in its outer surface with a layer of weatherproof polyvinyl chloride.
