Abstract

1472818 Bushes for bungholes TMT SA 30 Oct 1975 [5 Feb 1975] 44989/75 Heading B8T A bush for a bunghole in light metal casks comprises a light metal (e.g. aluminium) collar 1, a stainless steel lining 2, and a layer of electrical insulating material 14 provided between the collar and lining as a coating preferably on the outer surface of the lining or alternatively on the inner surface of the collar. The lining is provided at one end with an external radially extending annular ledge 10 which abuts an edge of the collar, the opposite end of the lining being rolled against another edge of the collar. In a preferred embodiment (Fig. 3) the collar 1 is provided with an internal shoulder 7 forming an abutment edge 8 and a truncated cone-shaped support surface 9 against which the edge 11 of the lining is rolled. The lining is screw-threaded at least along part of its height, as at 13, while the bush is secured to the bottom 15 of a cask by the weld 17.
